Summertime’s Impossible Motivation

Feeling stuck is arguably one of the most frustrating feelings in the world, and we’ve noticed it sometimes comes this time of year. With summertime comes a summer routine, whether it’s intentional or not. But in either case, it tends to lead to that feeling of sameness; an unsatisfying limbo that we have to drag ourselves through every July.

You might be a college student who doesn’t know what to do with themself now that you’re away from school.

You could be working an office job, sitting at a desk from 9:00 to 5:00, just waiting for a second to go outside and get some fresh air.

Or you might even be a parent, tired of bringing your kids to the same park or pool or beach every single day.

Ok, so we might not be able to destroy your routine, but there are ways we can make it just a little more fun.

The first thing you need to do is accept your independence. Accept your alone time. Because as soon as you start making the most of those free moments, you’ll feel a million times more fulfilled. There are endless ways you can fill up your day. Some of our suggestions include discovering new hobbies, exploring cities or areas around you, or treating yourself to a shopping/spa day (or hour).

  • Discovering hobbies
    • Of course, there’s a million hobbies out there that are just waiting for you to discover. So, we can only offer our own two cents. We say: find a canvas and some paint! Sit outside for a little while and paint something that inspires you, or something that you find serene. This activity is like a two-in-one; you get to spend some time outdoors while trying something new! Even if you’re not any good, you may find it relaxing or even therapeutic. Not to mention, it’s a great way to learn thoughtful appreciation for the world around you.

  • Exploring
    • Embracing your space and the area where you live can be truly cathartic. Many times, we overlook our home towns or cities because it seems too easy to enjoy. But finding beauty in our surroundings is critical to reaching peace in our routines. Do some research and find some cool places near you. Explore new places any chance you get, and you might just find a ritual spot for yourself.

  • Treating yourself
    • We know we’re not the first to say it, but retail therapy is real! Don’t be afraid to take yourself on a guilt-free spree. This could mean shopping, or even a nice little day at the spa! One of those days every now and again can help break up that routine that drives us all so insane. Fortunately, Soleil offers anything you’d possibly need for a treat-yourself day! We have loads of shoppable skin and hair care products, and spa treatments galore. If a day of relaxation and bliss is what you crave, Soleil Salon & Spa is happy to deliver.

Summer, the proclaimed season of lounging around, can sometimes feel the least relaxing of all. It might not be easy, but finding motivation this season is crucial to fighting against burnout, and Soleil Salon & Spa would love to be even a small part of your summer journey.
